Kuyshondra Brown, the future homeowner for this build, is a bus driver for Cobb County Schools with threechildren, and below is her story:

"My name is Kuyshondra, and I’m going to start this off with giving God the glory and the praise. He saw open doors, where Isaw closed. He saw the light at the end of the tunnel, where I only saw darkness. I want to thank Him for bringing methrough my trials and tribulations. I would also like to thank you all for considering my family, as well as myself, for thistremendous opportunity. Now allow me to get into it. I could write you all this magnificent book over the journey of my life, butI’ll save that for a later day. It will most definitely be coming to a million bookshelves near you.

I am the proud mother of three: Markeyla (age 16), D’Anthony (13) and Richard (11). When I brought Markeyla home 16years ago as an 18-year-old teen mom, I had nothing to offer her but love. I am blessed to have parents who gave meG.R.A.C.E, the gift of giving with responsibility, accountability, compassion and empathy. When I looked into my children’seyes, I promised them the world and told them that there wasn’t anything in this world I wouldn’t do for them. Which bringsme to today and has turned me into one of the biggest go-getters. One of my children deals with ADHD and that requirescountless phone calls from the school and doctor appointments. I needed to find a way to have revenue coming in and aflexible schedule so that I could be in multiple places throughout the day or week. For four years I worked in the cafeteria ata school in Cobb County, and at Kroger in the deli.

It allowed me to be off in time to help my children with their homework, as well as prepare a home cooked meal. Then I stepped out on faith and purchased my first vehicle with a car note. To some that’s not that big, but to me it was anadditional bill that at the time I could not afford. Then I made that purchase work for me. I resigned from Kroger and starteddriving for Uber, Lyft, doing deliveries with Instacart, and obtained my CDL license and became a bus driver. However, itwasn’t all glitz and glam. At the end of 2020 I had just resigned with Cobb County schools so that I could stay home with mykids and help them with virtual school. Two weeks later, my forever partner told me that he wanted a divorce. For threemonths at the beginning of last year I suffered from a deep depression. I always tell people I’m not a lucky person, but I amblessed and highly favored. I still mustered up enough mentally to keep a roof over my children’s heads, as well as climb myway out of debt, which prepared me for consideration for a Habitat home and this opportunity today. Again, I want to thankyou all for your consideration."

Building Homes. Changing Lives.
Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Metro Atlanta

Since 1986, Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Metro Atlanta has helped families in Cobb, Douglas, and Paulding counties achieve the dream of homeownership. What started as a small group inspired by the global Habitat mission has grown into a movement—powered by people like you.

Through your support, we’ve built hundreds of homes and empowered families with stability, pride, and a place to call their own. Our model works: future homeowners help build their homes, purchase them with affordable mortgages, and create lasting change for generations to come.

As the need for affordable housing grows, so does our determination to meet it—with your help.

Thank you for being part of our story.
Together, we’re creating stronger communities—one home at a time.
