Through my time volunteering and working on the Walton Habitat Board, I have been able to see the work Habitat for Humanity does for our community first-hand. Walton Habitat for Humanity works with other schools in our coalition to raise $90,000 in order to build one home each year, with our chapter contributing around half of the total cost. We generally raise this money through various events such as football game donations, ice cream sales, chick-fil-a fundraisers, neighborhood collections, etc. Then, our volunteers gather together in the spring semester to build a home for a family in need. This year, it is harder than ever to raise the money required for a Habitat Build. A lot of the normal ways Walton Habitat raises money by are difficult, if not impossible, to host in today's environment. However, there is still a great need for non-profit organizations like Walton Habitat in our community. In fact, Cobb County has one of the worst affordable housing rates in the entire country! Our goal is to alleviate the affordable housing crisis and work towards our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Any donations, big or small, are appreciated! By donating, you are helping us to provide a secure place for a family to live, laugh, and love in the comfort of a house that would not otherwise exist.
